if it smokes a little from leaving a stop, be proud that u have a healthy KA. twin cam motors do nothing but get better with age as LONG AS U DONT OVERHEAT THEM OR STARVE THEM OF OIL!!! if it smokes a little off the line...meh, who cares, its a KA. its happy smoke.

some of the fastest KA's ive seen smoke and are close to or over 200k miles. Taylor and bill can attest to this. They are vintage meng.
Yeah but mines smokes and burns oil like a champ...

I thought blue smoke was coolant ? --- Headgasket. Oil would be black.. / grey and would be able to smell it.

i run 5w40 synthetic and my car does not burn one drop of oil.

20w50 is too thick for ka's tolerances at extreme levels, but once they're all worn out to all hell, it probably works rather well.

i'm finally happy that my cars putting down 150whp and 160 tq and doesnt smoke one drop

OMG, I should've checked this post earlier so it wouldn't take 14 posts to state facts

Anyways, use engine compression restore additives, they really do help all around (Valvoline Max Life or Engine Restore). On my non-smoking 145k KA-T anyways...

Also, I sometimes would burn oil (blue smoke) from the engine bay b/c my crank oil seal was shot after installing the ASP pulley. Installed new one ($5) with the new pulleys and no more leaks.
