Default Q45's.... Drove 5 of them today...

I have to say i'm very impressed with the Q45....

In the past few days ive driven 4 LS400's, 2 GS300's (old aristo bodystyle 1993-1997) , and 5 Q45's..

While the lexus LS400 wins in the relibility and quietness department. The q45 (which most have a few lil quirks that are easy to deal with, mostly sticking sunroofs and odd door locking patterns) strikes back by rewarding the driver with more brute power. It sounds better, has more linear acceleration.. and lets just say.. it dosent like to drive straight around corners.. This car is the perfect getaway mobile for a mobster.. I LOVE IT.

Now i'm really torn between the old GS300 and the Q..

I know the gs300 has the 2j, and thus more potential for easilly made reliable power.. But the Q is harder to mod, and thus will hopefully keep the enthusiast modding craze to a minimum in order to conserve my $$$.

I figure for the Q45 I'd probabally go about giving it an intake, and MAYBE, just MAYBE an exhaust, but it'd have to be quiet as a mouse or close to while cruising.. 100 shot is tempting too....

God someone bust a cap in me before i buy one..

If it is the newest generation of q's you are looking at i say go for it. You will never be sorry you did. Those v-8's or bomb proof and would easily accomodate a 100shot. I know the older Q's have an aftermarket market for them just not sure on the latest gen? Those cars or so pimp.

well.. today i drove several 1997-2000's

and 2 of 1994's... the one 1994 was the most fun to drive (a T model that was well maintained mechanically, but too many quirks on interior equipment..)

i'm going to spend anywhere between 6K and 8K or so..

Can't really go wrong with any of them, the GS is the sportier looking of the three, but the short deck lid always pissed me off because you're lucky if you can maybe slide a breifcase in the trunk. The Q, assuming it is not the generation that burned up transmissions annually, is a real sleeper in the performance department, like you found out. That would be my choice. They flat haul ass without any mods. All three would be comfortable daily drivers. Good luck on your selection!

You might want to check out the infniti board on NICO, there's a lot of q enthusiasts there....at least the last time I looked which was probably a year or two ago
