My brother saved over time, sold off his 200sx project, and bought the 240sx, motor, and suspension all at the same time.

Watch out, because these projects never end. We're probably over 8 grand, and we still have wheels, paint, tuning, and some suspension left.

The easiest way to get a "bad-ass" ride is to steal it...almost literally.

Several times on here, I have seen cars go for a fraction of what was put in them. Some people put $10's of thousands of dollars into there car, only to get 25% of that back in re-sale.

Example: You buy a 1990 240sx for $1000. Complete swap with a few extras is about $6k (installed). Add suspension: another $1800, wheels and tires, add $1200, and voila', you have $10k invested. This is before a re-paint, seats, stereo, etc....

But somebody else has already done all that, and is probably going to end up selling their "baby" for about $6k, maybe $7k. You save a shit load.

Exactly, and it makes me wonder why more people don't part out their cars. Either taking it back to KA power on stock steelies or even trying to sell it as a shell- I think the running car would make more with the generally low value of KA's. Stock 240's in good shape go for silly-high prices now, while sr swapped 240's go for silly-low prices. Hell, the swap itself you can probably recover all of your investment from, especially if it's in good shape, maybe more since you can prove it's in good shape and from a strong-running car.

Bought my car half complete and haven't looked back since. While it was going together, I decided to do some upgrades that enhanced longevity of the new motor. You would cry if I told you what I really paid for my car. But if it makes you feel any better, I have put a ton of money and most importantly effort into it to get it where it is today.

Ask anyone at SS what they thought of my car when I first obtained it. Elbow grease goes a long way.

and you are left with a car that 99% of the time isn't right. there are always little things not done right on this car you get for a deal, and it ends up costing you money getting it to where you want to be. plus, you don't know what little problems the car has here adn there , and there may be wierd things done to the motor etc that you aren't totally aware of. i don't reccomend doing this.
