Alright this is my monday research that i have compiled for the 240sx and the 300zx here it goes:

I've seen a number of posts through the years about "how much does my car weight." or people who just are not sure and confuse the weight listed on the inside of the door as their cars actual weight. I searched around and found a few years weights or a model type weight. So I compiled a list of curb weights for the archives here.

These weights include all standard options, T-tops, and a manual transmition. For slicktops subtrack 33lbs. <---(Thanks Z PYRATE)

Twin Turbo Z32:
1996 - 3502 lbs.
1995 - 3517 lbs.
1994 - 3517 lbs.
1993 - 3474 lbs.
1992 - 3474 lbs.
1991 - 3474 lbs.
1990 - 3414 lbs.

N/A Z32
1996 - 3320 lbs.
1995 - 3332 lbs.
1994 - 3332 lbs.
1993 - 3219 lbs.
1992 - 3219 lbs.
1991 - 3219 lbs.
1990 - 3219 lbs.

N/A Z32 2+2
1996 - 3401 lbs.
1995 - 3413 lbs.
1994 - 3413 lbs.
1993 - 3313 lbs.
1992 - 3313 lbs.
1991 - 3313 lbs.
1990 - 3313 lbs.

N/A Z32 Convertable
1996 - 3401 lbs.
1995 - 3446 lbs.
1994 - 3446 lbs.
1993 - 3432 lbs.

And thats what I have found. If anyone finds different info point it out and I will gladly edit this post. This is the best I could do, and didn't have many sources to verify with. Sources include: edmunds.com, cars.com, and caranddriver.com

this is the specs that i also found from MODERNRACER.COM on the 240sx 1995:
Engine : 4-cylinder, DOHC, front engine RWD
Displacement : 2,393 cc
Valve : 16 valves, 4 valves per cylinder
Transmission : 5-spd manual, 4-spd automatic
Fuel economy : city - 22 mpg (manual), 21 mpg (auto)
highway - 28 mpg (manual), 27 mpg (auto)

Horsepower : 155 hp @ 5600 rpm
Torque : 158 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm
0-60 mph : 8.0 sec.

Curb Weight : 2800-2920 lbs
Overall length : 177.2 in.
Wheelbase : 99.4 in.
Overall Width : 68.1 in.
Height : 50.8 in.

and this is for the 300zx NA 2+2 adn this is the TYPE of Z that I own and here it is :
Wheelbase 101.2"
Overall Length 178.0"
Curb Weight 3,413 lbs.
Cargo Capacity 21.8 cu. ft.
Seating Capacity (Std/Max) 4/N/R
this is from INTELLACHOICE.COM

this is the twinturbo zcar coupe:
Engine
Valve Gear Twin-turbocharged DOHC
Horsepower 300 bhp @ 6,400 rpm
Torque 283lb ft @ 3,600 rpm
Fuel System Multi-Point electronic fuel injection
DriveTrain
Transmission 5-speed manual with overdrive 4-speed automatic with overdrive optional
Chassis Curb weight 3,287 lbs.
Dimensions
Wheelbase 101.2 in
Length 178 in.

So in theory the engine weight is what makes the 300zx suce a heavy car and if i drop a SR20det in this will remarcabally reduce athe weight of the car. plus IT IS DIFFRENT...nad diffrent is good so.. let me know what your opinion is on this situation.. thanx for the input. i got to call doug at z fever. thanx for the info..

I VOTE N/A VG!
I have a VG layin around, i think i just might do that...and maybe even a RWD Maxima??!! hmm....
Carbs with an SAFC??? Think again about what your suggesting.....

If your doing this purely to road race then I think your making a mistake, you have the best engine for the Z32 to start road racing allready. The vg30de has no turbo lag (who would have thought) doesn't produce as much heat as the TT, weighs less then the vg30dett and could be considered more reliable (certainly cheaper on the wallet) Personally I would do a few common bolt ons to the motor and leave the engine alone for road racing.

I'd concentrate on suspension and brakes, go to a few HPDE events and learn more about your current set-up. Sinking all that dough into a un-common engine swap with alot of turbo lag won't make you a track pro, practice practice and more practice will.

A couple of things that might be of interest to you about weights.
-Your stock Z32 wheels weigh ~17 lbs (no tire)
-Replacing the stock hood is pointless, its aluminum and is allready very light at around ~20 lbs

I don't like the idea of a SR in a Z32 but its your car and more importantly your money I would check out the video's by Mr.MoSopo (the name might be off) in the Video's forum so you can see what a modified vg30dett Z32 can do at a road course. Good luck and check out www.twinturbo.net if you haven't allready.

Yeah, Steve (mr.Mospo) does really well on the track compared to some other track built cars. I myself don't like the idea of putting a turbo 4 cyl. in a sports car that was made a designed with a twin turbo 6cyl. IT serms like you are doing your research, I would just really think about what i was doing before i went through with it . Make sure its absolutely what you want before its too late.

I watched the video last night and let me tell you at was pretty bad ass.. but from what a friend told me that knows teh driver of the 300tt personally he only has the engine done( i think at the time that the video was shot....BUT..back to the SR20DET the company Z-fever will do a bone stock transplant for $4500 this includes the labor and the engine, trans, ecu, and i believe working A/C.. not bad.. this is stage 1 but stage 3 is 385rwhp

so far everyone haas opposed this swap...but look at the numbers..ok

3313 2859
- 350 = 300zx +350 =240sx
------- ---------
2963 3209

3313lbs >300zx with vg30de 222hp
-3209lbs >240sx with SR20det(s14) 220hp
--------
104lbs >diffrence between the 300zx(na) and the 240sx(SR)

when you really look at it the diffrence between the 2 cars is only 2lbs and 5rwhp......... it is a minimal yet significant diffrence.

due to this fact that i have found out i can deffinently see that the this hybrid will soon be what we will be seeing in the future of sport compact cars, if not in sport compact definently in drifting... i think that this might even rival the FD3s and the S13/S14 as the pride fo the drifting community....(JUST THINK ABOUT IT)

ANYWAY THIS IS MY OPINION AND I HOPE YOU LIKE IT . IF YOU DONT...........HEY OPINIONS ARE LIKE ASSHOLES EVERYONE HAS GOT THEM AND THEY ALL STINK.
