i remember wen chris was running 12.76 and his first gear was way to short. launch and slip at 5500rpm. half a second after the start he has to hit second gear. making 1st gear a useless gear on the AWD platform.

I personally have never heard many people complaining about the AWD's gearing, in fact, most people recommend sticking with the shorter gear unless you're an autocrosser and have a lot of undersize courses to run on.As far as the tranny problems go, yeah, dsm trannies suck. Fortunately we have a very good tranny builder right here in Tampa and his prices are very reasonable. Or you can buy a 3k tranny from TRE or Shep and gain the ability to powershift at 9500+ and lose some of the fear of slipping the clutch out too fast on the launch and breaking something. I think I'll be sticking with Jerry's services, though I'm actually going to attempt it myself first just to see if I can actually get it back together in working condition.

Vapor- How did you get 15 more hp out of a t2small? Is there some new wrinkle in the tuning or have you done cams or something?
Enthalpy- 110 out of a t25? That's insane- weight reduction? lots of it? Or just Nissan mojo?

... i didnt say anything about making first gear longer. if anything get a bigger final drive and load the turbo up.
