Question SR20DET Swap Alternative

Has anyone read or seen this article in Turbo Magazine? turbo Magizine ? It talks about GReddys New KA24de bolt on turbo kit for the 96-98 240sx. Now, I've read and heard about the bolt on kits for Honda/Acura as I used to be a honda/acura nut...the bolt on turbos are too small, and the emanage or with the acura kits, black box, was garbage. I wanted to get a feel for this kit from the local Nissan guys, as far as its potentail using a stock KA block, with proper tuning(any SS guys got a tuning program for a Ka-T?...considering your working on the KA SSPL tune?).

GReddy Kits includes the following-

Designed specifically for the factory 240SX’s KA24 DE engine, the GReddy 20G Turbo Kit is a great alternative to complicated SR20DET engine transplants, with better bolt-on horsepower and toque gains at just 6psi (225hp). The GReddy KA24DE Kit includes: a large TD06S 20G actuator-turbo, durable cast-iron manifold, 4x topfeed 370cc injectors with high flow fuelrail, preprogrammed “e-manage”, Airinx air-intake, and all the necessary piping and hardware. The larger 2.4L engine with a turbo rated for upto 460hp and a programmable e-manage is a great basis for further upgrades, especially the 240SX Type 24 Front-mounted Intercooler Kit now available.

TD06S 20G is a pretty healthy turbo, i'd like to know what trims on the exhaust side they use, the mitsubishi guys actually ran faster with the smaller 7cm2 exhaust housing than with the bigger 10cm2 exhaust housing, and it spools instantly with the smaller exhaust....without nitrous, a 7cm2 20G TD05/TD06 hybrid has gone 10.7's, so the turbo shouldn't be a weakness

Well, I know the GReddy Kits are made fairly well and have been known to be an actual true bolt on kit...Im just wondering how the stock KA motor hold up to this kit using the emanage and intercooler. I remember reading before that the Mistu turbos in this size has been know to spool pretty quick(I've read somewhere that this kit makes 225hp at 3400rpm). Thanks for the info so far...more googling to come

That kit is $3,590 w/o a IC but they offer a IC for $990 with the purchase.

Have you seen this kit? Stage 1 is $3,649 with a IC made to fit within the front bumper.

Haven't seen any other kits worth noting.

im pretty sure its the 7cm^2 housing on the turbo.

i like this kit, minus the fact it doesnt come with a BOV or FMIC but those are easy add ons, and the Emanage gives alot of room for improvement...drop in some 50lb injectors, Z32 MAFs turn up the boost and see where it takes you. definately not as cost effective as a hacked mafs setup or a chipped ecu, but the quality is there.

ive seen non-fmic'ed greddy kits for $2800, add on the $800 for the fmic and ur at ~$3600.

7 cm 20G's rock, they spool on a 2 liter, 20+ psi before 4000 rpm, the 2.4 would have it spooling like a T25
