Default Matt or anyone else that does Rom tuning

I'm messing around with the z31 rom and I was wondering how you guys are tuning the maps for the different rpm/load points. I know on the dyno you can only take the car through a limited set of load and rpm points to get the afr readings. How do you go about correcting the rest of the map? Educated guesses? Also, when you swap in the z32 afm do you redo all the maps or do you simply change the K or VQ maps? I'm mostly interested in the steps that you take to get your maps right. I know the ecus are not the same but I'm sure the way they work is pretty close. I've got a wideband kit and a rom burner so I'm all set as soon as I fix my engine. Just looking for any tips you dont mind sharing.

having a dyno is just like having your car on the open road minus wind resistance , curves, and traffic.

you can simulate any load at any rpm range except for max max max rpm and max max max load, but you can extrapolate for there anyways. even then, you won't hit much more than the max on the air flow meter than you do on the dyno. we have too much experience doing these things to not correct the rest of the map either.

educated guesses?? more like wideband o2 readouts from the dyno and knowing what the cars like.

we change all of the values to compensate for different injector / maf combinations

experience and dyno gets the maps right. and when you have one of our ecus in the car, they start up the first time, kick on with a/c perfectly, and you'd never know they had a larger injectors or larger maf on them. they're that good

What ecu are you tunign on, an 88-89 ?

I'm running the 88 turbo ecu. I already have a burned chip in it and running. I'm planning on TT injectors and possibly playing around with the z32 afm. I'm sure you guys do a great job and there is no doubt the stock ecu can be tuned to perfection. By educated guess I meant extrapolation. What I 'm really interested in is to find out what tables/values you actually change and in what steps. I'm sure the ecu's you are tuning and the z31 ecu are very similiar with the exception of the code and addresses. As far as I know JWT is the only person that does tunes for the z31 so I'm trying to find some information on the process in general so I can do it myself. Let me know if this is a bad subject for you to talk about. I dont want you to give away any secrets.

your best bet is to bring by the ecu. i want to play with it.

the only reason i wasn't tuning z31 ecus is because of the whole afm thing.. i was told they run on an analog 12v system instead of a digital 5v system.. maybe we can get a jwt450 modified ecu and see what they do to it, duplicate that, and run a z32maf instead

Default You might want to talk to Harry Sandhu

He is YellowZXTT on aim or his email is YellowZXTT@aol.com Harry is working on alot of ECU reprogramming for the Z32, as well as a few other cars. Also, Ahs Powers is a good resource as he has released several chips for the Z32. He is now with Z1 Motorsports, www.Z1motorsports.com or his AIM is: Ashz in Florida
