matt.. su is not a carb manufaturer.. SU is the style of carbs - side uptake. Hitachi makes those

 

all S30 Z's had 160mph speedo's.
like Matt said 280ZX came with the turbo L28ET, not the 280Z.
theres a few L28ET's on stock internals pushing 450whp... just not alot..
that Z is very nice, and its a great swap... very clean!
i was thinking about that swap but just never got the wheels turning.

180sx what shop you have? i dont really know lots of shops as i do the work myself.
but its cool to hear shops are fooling around with old Z's...
and about Daruis racing that SR S30... it wouldnt even be funny.. that supercharged Lt1 Z is just sick....... plus its now a wide body, Z with more rubber and power now..

SU stands for Skinners Union, the company that designed them. Made under license by Hitachi and others.

I wouldn't worry about the driveshaft angle. We run quite a bit of angle on rockcrawling trucks and with over 100:1 gear reduction they put out alot of torque at the t-case, more than any car. I've broke 5 axles but never a U joint. That's a nice swap, keeping a car light makes a huge difference.
