RB25 swap
i remember this being a hot topic of discussion several months ago. the main arguement against doing it (as far as i could tell) was all the custom fabrication that needed to be done, but in light of new developments like mckinney motorsports' mount kit, this has become a fairly bolt in affair... what's everyone's thoughts on this swap? i've been debating which way i want to go, either s14 sr20 or an rb25... also, what's the stock turbo on the rb25? t3?
i was concidering it myself, something different but now i`m thinking about finding a 300zr front clip and dropping a rb30det (or is it an "et"? need to do more research obviously)

i believe the stock turbo is a t3 and its rated at 250 i think. definetly go RB if u want ultimate potential. probably cheaper to go sr20 but the newer sr20's are more expensive. rb26 can go in too but u need an rb25 tranny and rb25 oil pan cuz the rb26 pan would hang too low on a 240. call shaun at upgrade performance (www.upgradeperformance.com) he's done rb25's before and i think he was quoting 5500 out the door for a swap. id say rb all the way. good luck with whatever u choose.
i always thought that on stock block, the sr20det > rb25det, potentially. Of course, in the end w/ some rebuilding, the added displacement will help. But who has the $$ to actually do that?
What's the rb25det tranny capable of?
It's kinda funny how ppl wanna be "different" and they now have a kit to make it plug and play.
I dunno, to each his own.

its got to do with t25 flange vs. t3 flange out of the box
its got to do with torque
its got to do with displacement
and now that they have mount kits, its not really different, is it?

allow me to correct myself...
i meant an rb20det, as found in the japanese (and other right hand drive countries) 200zr. the rb30e was found in the commodor and can have the rb25 or 26 head swapped onto it, depending on your turboing desires. the rb20det was a i-6 2.0 liter, with @214 hp at the wheels and all the potential of it`s offspring (rb series motors) and i just read on the www that an rb30 will bolt right into an s14 with an r32 crossmember, jfyi.
also there was a 300zr, but it had a vg30xxxx motor
pic is an rb20det in a 200zr
vg30dett is the engine code for 90-96 300zx, 84-89 (which is what i have) is a det.
