rb25 or 26 will go on rb30 block. not sure what car it came in but it is possible to make one happen if u really think 2.5 or 2.6 liters isnt enough displacement lol. but the rb25 is a very strong engine and can handle over 500 hp on stock internals just as an sr20 can, but it will make obviously boatloads more torque and its tranny is beefy as hell. u get added weight with the rb but i mean with a decent build it can probably make 700+ easily. plus rb's are a lot more rare in the us and a stock rb motor is gonna be a hell of a lot more fun than any stock sr20. rb will feel more muscle car like and the torque is definetly welcome. (if u cant tell im a big rb fan lol) but anyway, it all comes down to how much u really want and what the car is gonna be built for. sr20's make great street engines and stuff so it might make more sense to do that for cost and streetability. either way it'll be better than a ka lol.

What I meant was, I always thought (heard?) that the rb25det's stock internals weren't all that great. Or was it the block? I can't remember exactly, but I know that not too many ppl go crazy high hp on them. If you look around, there's not even that big of an aftermarket for that engine.
I'm gonna try to get a hold of some aussies that know a thing or two about this stuff. My current aussie gf has some friends that are nissan enthusiasts. One of her friends runs/owns http://www.flyn.com.au/ (and yea, the stuff costs more there than here, as crazy as that sounds)

back to researching

i meant an rb20det, as found in the japanese (and other right hand drive countries) 200zr. the rb30e was found in the commodor and can have the rb25 or 26 head swapped onto it, depending on your turboing desires. the rb20det was a i-6 2.0 liter, with @214 hp at the wheels and all the potential of it`s offspring (rb series motors) and i just read on the www that an rb30 will bolt right into an s14 with an r32 crossmember, jfyi.

also there was a 300zr, but it had a vg30xxxx motor

pic is an rb20det in a 200zr

vg30dett is the engine code for 90-96 300zx, 84-89 (which is what i have) is a det.
and to further elaborate and educate, the 300zr offered overseas (ie, not here!) was equiped with a vg30de

check the sept. 03 issue of scc. they basically make the RB sound like its so great. but mckinney motorsports was makin 350 to the wheels before the 100 shot of nitrous and that was on stock internals. im confident that it can handle just as much if not more boost than an sr20. i mean it has an iron block and with tuning a 2.5 will almost always make more than a 2.0. oh what the hell. ill stick with my 1.8t and stay out of this argument.

Not arguing, just would like to see what has been accomplished w/ that motor.
It would be nice to see someone push the envelope w/ it.
Remember when everyone said the sr20det was only capable of 400whp on stock block? And I believe enthalpy has proved that quite off a bit.
I just want to see where ppl have started to break stuff on an rb25det.

In the SS issue if I was reading it right werent' they talking about the SR not the RB? And just to add in my two cents. Yes I would go RB if you have the Money and the Time. Personally I'm going to turbo the KA. Why be like most SR people? Dont' get me wrong it's a very very sweet engine but it really comes down to how much cash you have free and time to do it.

That rb30/rb26 hybrid sounds pretty interesting. I'm going to go research it a bit, see if I can find what kind of numbers it was putting out.

the rb30/26 hybrid is definetly the ultimate motor if u dont ever want to worry about anyone ever touching u. i read an old modified magazine article about a guy that had an R33 gts-t over here in the states and he did that motor setup and was running 9.4's at like 150mph and he still drove it on the street. absolutely ridiculous power....ur definetly lookin over 10 grand to have a motor like that built tho lol. i think secret services should try to see how far an rb25 can go on a stock bottom end like they did with their 539 hp stock block sr20. id bet u can make 600 . cmon ss!!! i was considering that motor swap but i need something that gets good gas mileage for college so i got the golf. my friend has a 240 tho and maybe i can convince him to do it. keep on boostin
