Stop putting words in my mouth, I never said the car was worthless, I said it's a good daily driver, but not fast.

If the hobby aspect is modding a 2G, why not save some money and buy a turbo. Ultimately a turbo can be faster too. Everyone knows that you'll eventually want more power, and you can't get more power from a 420A.

Maybe I just take the worth of everything before I do it. Maybe I weight everything and choose the better choice, the one that is worth it.

 

Once again, stop putting words in my mouth. I never bashed this kid. I IMed him and gave him lots of advice and he thanked me for it. I told him the consequences of everything he wanted to do.

Also, I paid more insurance money for my NT than I do my turbo AWD.

Finally, I know the kid can't afford a turbo right now. He is 16, this is his first car. I told him to save his money because it's not going to be worth putting money into a 2GNT.
And, 2GNTs weigh about the same as 2G FWD turbos

Why do you post stuff like that without having any prior knowledge on the subject? Why not also say the world is flat. I dont have any problems with you personally chris. But ever since you got your DSM its like your mind completely closed off to the fact that there are other cars in the world.

For the original poster...what do you want to achieve with your car. That will help better assess what path to take as far as performing mods.

you have probably picked out a decent first car. No 16 yr old boy needs to have a powerful car he can kill himself of others in. First off....you really dont do engine swaps in these cars unless you have bought a n/a (420a) The 420a is a decent engine...but is not something you can make fast cheap. Its like a honda...takes thousands and thousands of dollars to actually make it worth while. If you want a fast car...for cheap...get a 4g63 perferably a 6bolt....1g dsm. ( but not all 1gs are 6 bolts)
you can get a dsm in the 12's for nothing...and you dont need to build your engine for boost.

because you can build the 420a to be a 10s car...it just takes LOTS of money
