Default Power Problems, need help asap

alright, well i havent driven my car since monday afternoon (today is friday) i was driving down the interstate at about 3k and look at my guages and stuff an everything looked dimmer then usual, played with the knob, nothing happened, barely got dimmer if anything. so i pulled off and when i made the turn and got on the gas coming out of it it was sputtering badly (figuring not enough power to spark injectors) and my EGT's rose past 1200*C!!! (i dont know if this was an actual reading because anytime i pressed the brakes or used a turn signal you could watch the guage bounce up when the light came on and drop when it went off) and i ran to the nearest gas station as fast as i could, checked my ALT belt, looked to be nice and snug, checked everything else i could at the time and it all looked to be in good order, had hard time starting the car but made it back to the interstate and i couldnt keep it at 2500 in 5th without feeling it missing, so i cut my lights, radio and guages and it quit but i turned my cautions on just for safety. but watched them fade quite quickly and then the car just stalled outright, i let it roll approx 1.5 miles and put it in 2nd and popped the clutch and got it going again and limped it back to my dads house. so i have narrowed it down to alternator went out, or battery is dead(dont see how, it worked just fine last time i drove it but possibly)

if anyone has any other suggestions they are greatly welcome, i have a long venture next weekend and cant afford to break down in BFE.

sounds like alternator. If you can jump start it. and let it run for a little. get a voltmeter across the battery to see if the alternator is charging it. while running you should get more then 12.6 to about 13.2. I should have an alternator around. ill let ya know.
