get KYB AGXs and there are a buncha springs that are good. Eibach and I personally like the Sprints. people say they stink but the ride with AGXs and Sprints on my old FWD was kick ass.

its got to be able to take a beating, and it will also have to provide decent ground clearance, due to the conditions the car will be driven in.

my car used to have GAB struts with H&R springs. The car was worked on and built by a rally company called TAD Motorsports. SCC often covers rally races and from time to time you can catch a glimpse of a TAD car by looking for their name on the spoiler or door of evo's, mazda 323 gtx's and other rally bred cars.

www.tadmotorsports.com

I recently got rid of the GAB's cause they were too damn stiff for daily drving, even on the softest setting it was like drving around with agx's set to full stiff. There is a difference between agx and the gab's even though they are the same company. The car had H&R springs. Not the best springs for lowering, they supposedly lowered the car 1 inch but I never saw that no matter what angle I looked at it.

So in place of the GAB's and H&R's I went with RRE's hybrib setup. Shortened Konis up front, AGX's in the rear with Eibach Sportline springs. The only thing I have for camber correction is a MachV rear camber correction arm kit which I havn't even installed yet. Plus I have GAB strut tower bars and a RMDSM sway bar kit, which consists of one of the, if not the, thickest rear sway bars you can get for a 1g AWD and stiffer bushings for the front and rear bars.

all done that set up cost about 1400 not including brakes. I don't have CO's cause I couldn't afford the more expensive ones and GC's just didn't interest me.

so if he is looking to do hardcore rallying with full out everything and not be a daily driver AND he has the money to spend then I recommend the finest .....even if he is or isn't that serious then the normal upgrades will do just fine. Its not like he is entering WRC

I would suggest him calling TAD and even asking them if they can recommend a set up. But I will warn you, they are dicks and unless you have a deep pocket and plan on emptying it with them they most likely won't give a rats ass about who you are. They used to do street cars but then around '00 they went to just doing rally cars and other race only class cars for amatuer customers that wanted to take on rally racing as a hobby/carrer. I'm sure there are other race/rally teams out there that can help but as far as rally racing TAD is the only company that I know of that has persued the sport so heavily in the US since around 1995(at least with Mitsubishi as they build a lot of evo's). They just plain know WTF they are doing when it comes to rally racing and building a car.
