thats aftermarket ecu for the car. you are better off using a stock ecu for your car. the stock ecu is much easier to tune. with virtually no limits in hp potential. far more online help too. pm me if you would like to trade for stock ecu. I have a couple laying around

It's a first generation AEM EMS for an EVO 8. The part number, 30-1313, is the correct part number for your application. This ECU, in my personal opinion, is the best ECU on the market. If you decide to sell it and go back to stock, please note that the AEM ECU is very expensive...

whereas the stock ECU not as much...

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low pricesAs far as the check engine light with the AEM, unless it was a programmable output, it shouldn't have came on. Perhaps your tuner set it up for safety in case certain parameters get out of spec?

AEM just sold a bunch of series 1 boxes on ebay for 600.
lots of used ones lately for 500 too.

if you think AEM is the best ECU my opinion would be you havent tuned on much else. far better standalones out there. but given the stock evo ecus are so tunable right now they have all but eliminated the need for standalones.
