Default I really need to get an answer on this

Iv been searching for hours and still cant get a direct answer to my question. its always a 50/50 split

I just picked up a 91 supra stock FMIC (free)

Iv been having problems with my stock 2g SMIC (99 gst) with heat soaking running at 18psi. i dropped my boost down to 15psi till i could figure things out.

Now im all about spending money for the good stuff but im not gonna argue with free, the supra i took the FMIC off of was running 22 psi as a dd with a 70a.r. turbo.

My quesstion is this. Is this FMIC better then the stock SMIC of my 2g, it will be pretty easy to mount and with my pipe bender i can make any pipes i want. This FMIC also has the in and out on the same side of the FMIC. Looks like it is 2" pipeing.

Thanks

it kinda looks like maybe an mr2 ic?

Honestly nothing will ever cool as well as a good fmic. They really don't cost a bundle and if you have the means to make all the pipes you need the material cost is at a min. Take the supra SMIC and sell it for $50 bucks or whatever lol. House power is really equivalent to air density, get those temps down and do it right. That's just my 50/50.. gl with it man.

the supra IC isnt a SMIC lol it is a full front mount that was mounted to the front of the car haha.

sorry if that was a lil confusing

It may not even be a stock supra IC, but it worked great for his car till it jumped time. it has no markings it fit perfect ill get a pic tmrw

From how he had things set up it should be able to hold 18psi all day long and my cooling problem should be gone

What size is the core? Also 2g throttle body is like 2.5'' or 2.25'' isnt it? Personally I woudlnt bother making pipes for anything smaller than maybe an Evo 8/9 intercooler...which can be had for $60-100. I got a Greddy style 12x24x3 for like $70 shipped on Ebay.

I run a universal ebay fmic and piping. I have not had any issues with heatsoaking or pressure drops.

kewl, like i said i got it for free and cant find any reviews or specs on it. its about 2-2.25" thick about 25-30" long.

i did find pics of the stock 89-92 fmic on the supras and what i have looks nothing like it. i wonder if someone upgraded to something else. the turbo that was on the car was far from stock and it was converted to a top mount when they got it. imma snap a pic of it now

I believe the cheap fmic's are only a problem with really high hp cars. The welds crack. lol

pretty sure its not gonna be a stock piece if it was off a mk3. Not sure about the 4s but thought the 3s had sidemounts. Big ones like 4 inches thick lol
