Looking for the best engine that i can swap into my girlfriends 03 eclipse gs.

interested in the stock engine from a dsm or this generation eclipse.

If it will fit. post up the type of engine and specs with your price.

it will need to be automatic tranny if the tranny comes with the engine.


Side Note: i am not very knowledgeable about eclipse engines so if anybody has tips or suggestions on motor type feel free to list.

nothing swaps in without any sorta of major upgrade just replace the 420

 

Its an 03. So no 420. 4G64 from a 00-?? Eclipse or Galant I believe.

and to the OP. if i get this right i know alot of 2g gst's are starting to put the 3g eclipse blocks in their car and still run the 4g63 head. so i would imagine that you could maybe try to find a 4g63 head. and piece together a turbo setup and drop the head on your block and run boost. i hear the combo is a good turn out.

 

the only thing that can be swaped is the 4g63 evo motor but it is going to cost alot, you would be cheaper just to sell the one that you have and get a gst, gsx, or a 420a and turbo it....

 

doesn't the 3g's have the 4g64 motor right? wont the 4g63 head go on his block? i know a few gst owners run that setup so i don't see why it couldn't be reversed and he would just have a hybrib build in a 3g instead of the 2g.

 

^yep he can swap a dual cam head onto it (evo or 2g), and then flash the stock ecu with an Evo rom. This will net about 160-165hp. Stick a 14b on there and 250hp is cake...hell you dont even have to do that. You can just get some sort of EMS and then put a stock turbo and manifold on the single cam head. Thats gonna limit you to the low 200s though.

4g64 is a good motor...same internally as the 4g63, its just the pistons rings that are different. They are good for about 18psi MAX then they will blow out lol. What I've read anyway...

also there is an evo8 head in the forsale section. If youre serious jump on it, they dont show up here too often.

the 4g64 stock internals are only good for bout 300 hp an your pushing but it can be turboed (an built)!! lol

dsmtuners.com has a bunch of info on these motors too if you look! lol they will piss you off if you dont use their search function though main reason i hate dsmtuners at this point lol (all cock suckers flame you for bs lol)

 

she doesnt need much power... she doesnt need turbo or anything.

i was just wondering if there would be a better engine than the (im assuming the stock eclipse engine is 420?) since we gonna replace it anyway i was just wondering if there were anything better as far as performace goes. she doesnt need much speed lol.
