nice. ^ one question to all 2g drivers. are there any areas in the rear hatch area that are prone to leaking? i am going to fix my little rust problem but i need to find the damn source

slowboy420At 05-17-2010 04:26 PM

sit in the hatch when it rains or run water over the hatch. then u can find the leak

got_bst? 05-17-2010 04:34 PM

yeah i was going to do that. oh and COD4 we talked at the last bbq about the stuff for the rust. you said i body supply shop should have it? and it's in a rattle can.

wishiwasfast 05-17-2010 04:48 PM

In your hatch, you have channels by the weather stripping where water is suppose to flow. There are two drain holes there to drain water when it rains so it doesnt flow past the stripping. Most people don't notice them because they get clogged with dirt and leaves and then you don't even know they are there. Find them, clean them out the best you can and that should solve your problem.... Use compressed air and or pressure washer to push debre through if you can.

i have a nasty vibration in the front of my car. and i don't think it's all from my bad cv axel. also think it's definitly time to cut my rotors cause i put brand new ceramic bands on. and that also added to the vibration...

so tearing the car apart tomorrow to see what i can find...

Does it only vibrate when your braking or all the time?

before i changed the pads only when braking but only while braking over 28hundred rpm's in 5th gear (i don't have a speedo)
changed the pads and now starts a faint vibration around the same rshared_pm range, except in 4th gear..
also when at slow speeds (like at a crawl) i hear a nasty screech, like nails on a chalk board coming from my front passenger wheel..

Check your wheel bearing... jack the car up and grab the wheel firm and shake it from side to side like your trying to turn it. Then do the same from top to bottom. If there is play it needs to be replaced.

hmm.. i did that when i changed the pads. i think lol.

the front of the car was off the ground, and the car was parked in first.
i kinda just wiggled the rotor and turned it.turned maybe an inch or more in each direction. i thought it was strange since it was in gear but wasn't sure... could that possibly be the issue? i will also repeat tomorrow to make sure it has that freeplay.

i really appriciate the input BTW, thanks alot

x8psycho8x 05-19-2010 08:08 PM

also. would that explain the screeching i'm hearing?

and it doesn't just do it when i brake. if it starts doing it, it will remain the same reguardless if i brake or not..

Not really, Just have to take the hub assembly apart. The bearing housing is held in by 4 bolts. Once you pull it out all you have to do is press the old bearing out and then the new one in. Might need a press, thats the only thing. I've carefully done it with a mallet and big socket but I don't suggest it.
