GET IT DONE ALREADY!!!

Just got back from Daytona, The Eclipse got there and back again without any problems as usual. Averaged about 85mph on the way back and she just ran like a top! I'm still not convinced that DSMs are not reliable.

A tie rod can cause vibration but not the sounds you are hearing... Let me know if you don't figure it out. I would like to take a look at the car.

Just ordered my new solenoid... pricy bastard

i'm gonna start with getting my rotors cut. a good starting point i feel. and see where that leaves me. i'm thinking that since my rotors already needed cut and then i drove from honey moon island to my house in the pouring ass rain, that maybe it warped them a little more. and the fact that i put brand new think pads on, that maybe not it's just constantly rubbing my shitty pads..
not to sure but i'm starting with basics and will work up
but doin't worry, i may take you up on your offer

^^^NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR SHIT. THAT IS WHAT TAMPAFORUMS IS FOR.

Today I installed a waterpipe, OFH, alternator bracket etc on the '64...head is going on tomorrow. Just need to rig up some timing tools and hopefully the engine will see its new home by tomorrow night!

Driving in the rain wont warp your rotors...unless you're doing like 110-0 stops through a puddle. If you wanna see if the brakes are dragging go drive around for a few minutes then hop out and touch the wheel. If it is really hot then you're probably dragging...you can touch the rotor too but I would try the wheel first so you dont burn yourself.

Also, did you seat the pads? And what kind did you use? I put ceramics on mine awhile ago and forgot to seat them, I got a bit of a rubbing noise and a burning smell..

You should just get Brembo blanks or something. Ive seen them as cheap as $20 a rotor. Cutting rotors is a waste of money IMO. Unless there is just a bunch of friction material buildup...if they are actually warped then when you resurface them, you're cutting off the part thats warped...so it will just be thinner and more likely to warp again, probably worse than the first time.

What is the issue you're having anyway?

x8psycho8x 05-21-2010 08:07 PM

i tried seeing if they were sticking. i drove around in a circle. tapping my breaks a couple times and went 5 miles down the road, flipped my hazards and coasted to a stop making sure not to use the brakes. and they weren't any warmer then they should have been. and hard to tell if there's a smelling cause my cv axel boot is ripped so all i smell is burnt grease lol.

and everyone will laugh at me but what to you mean seat the pads? and yes, their were ceramic. don't rememebr the brand.
and i need the rotors cut anyways since i have some deep guages on the back side on the rotor and rubbing my finger across you can feel the bumps in the rotor. and plan on replacing them anyways, but funds wont allow it at the moment..

and the overall issue is that while driving i have a nasty vibration in the front end, but not just when i'm braking. the vibration starts around 24 hundred rpm's and only gets worse from there on. and time to time i will hear a nasty sqeeching/grinding from my front passenger wheel...

and new issue today. can bad upper control arm busshing cause the upper arm to lean down? because it completely cut up my tire and my car is stuck at work due to a flat right now... trying to get the tire off the rim right now with no luck lol, i have no patiance what so ever.

Don't worry bro, hopefully now things will stay on topic.

Drove a 3rd gen eclipse today, manualmatics are not that bad and this one drove smooth and had awesome acceleration for being n/a.

slowboy420At 05-22-2010 06:22 AM

dag-num alternator belt broke. i knew it was coming, you could guess wut im doin today. then goin to street heat tonight

x8psycho8x 05-22-2010 11:37 AM

i brought my car home..

sqeeching has stoped since changing the brakes, however the vibration is still the same. thinking about tearing it apart to see why my control arm is cutting into my tire. but it's hot as balls today lol, so may do that tomorrow, unless someone knowledgable is bored and may wanna hang out lol

slowboy420At 05-22-2010 12:11 PM

fixed the car, runnen flawless

boosteddsm 05-22-2010 03:00 PM

Clutch line came in on Friday. So today I replaced the clutch line, Replaced the slave cylinder, Changed the oil, and took her for a drive. So far everything seems ok. Lets just hope it was the slave cylinder and nothing else.

john34683 05-23-2010 08:00 PM

got rid of the HUGE custom sub box taking up the entire rear of my car and resinstalled the factory trim, rear seat and seat belts (nice having a back seat now).....contemplating getting rid of my aftermarket front bumper and going back to a stock front...

slowboy420At 05-23-2010 08:12 PM

you should get rid of the rear bumper, side skirts, front bumper and that huge wing. paint it a sold color and it would look 100% better IMO

x8psycho8x 05-24-2010 06:15 AM

i don't mind 2 tone, but baby blue and white just look wierd to me
