ill bet its the CAS or cam angle sensor when they begin to go out they will shut the whole car down leaving you with just the interior components working aswell as lighting and such it happened to me not so long ago and would act exactly as you described! sad part is the sensor is about the size of a large cockroach and cost about 70 bux at any local auto parts store its located on the passenger intake side of the head! the only other thing is it should throw a cel like the others said! another thought is go buy a obd2 code reader check your car after you've writen the codes down return it! hope this helps!!!!

Is it a manual? I had this problem and whenever I put in the clutch, the RPM's would plummet to zero and the car would stall. After much money spend on diagnosis, it turned out to be too much carbon buildup in the system.

You should also check the MAF. A lot of time when they are going bad, they can not adjust to the air flow as it slows down and stall out.
