need advise on what to do
whats up everyone with an eclipse turbo. im new to the forum but i need some advise from dsm owners. i have an eclipse with an 18g pushing out 19 lbs of boost 3inch downpipe 3inch exhaust k&n intake greddy large front mount 625cc injectors safc boost controller bov spark plug wires upgraded clutch all intercooler pipes upgrade etc. you get the point. i have done pretty much every possible bolt on upgrade to this car. my question is when should i start to worry about internal stuff? i wasnt thinking about changing pistons cam gears rods rings and stuff like that just yet but should i change the motor mounts replace head gasket timing belts? just to make sure the car doesnt calapse on me. and what about the transmission should i worry about that? and what can i do to prevent any misfortunes. thanks for your help
I think your motor including the head gasket are pretty safe at this level. Id recommend motor mounts especially if you have a FWD. Either way they make clutch engagement and power delivery much more positive. BUT... they will vibrate your car a lot. keep your timing belt changed about every 50000 miles. Maybe your next step is to pull the head have some port work done and install a metal head gasket and ARP head studs while you are in there. Go with a first generation intake manifold and throttle body too. Your bottom end is good deep into the low 12s with proper tuning.
my car has under 30000 miles on it. great im going to have it tuned in about a month because i know it needs it. what do you think about a copper head gasket? and how can become a member of dsm.org?
