my old j-pipe was tapped for boost, but the new one isnt. i may give it a shot and see if i can put a nipple on it. any ideas how? i doubt its thick enough to tap it and have it threaded.

If you are going to do that pay the $20 or $30 to have it tig welded

forgot about tig, there's a guy down the street from me that has a mig welder. whats the difference? (besides HOW the welding actually gets done) is there a difference in strength or durability?

damn, so highjacked this thread, sorry man!

Well I was in orlando this weekend and friday I stopped by TTP. We tried to figure out what was wrong with the car we even swapped my MBC to a forge MBC and it still did the same thing. Its not the waste gate because I T'd the lines together to make waste gate pressure and that's steady at 13lbs. The guys at TTP think It could be my HKS BOV. Does anyone know if the SSQV v.2 BOV has different springs inside? I didn't have a problem with it when the lines were hooked up to the stock boost solenoid...

T-ing of the BOV line works on the EVOs, but it is better to use the pressure line off the lower pipe. It gives you a better source of pressure for the boost controller. When you T-off the Bov line you have to share the pressure between the MBC and the BOV. This can cause the BOV to lose pressure and give you a boost leak. Using the pressure line from the lower gives you consistant pressure everytime, and gives each thier own pressure source.
I called u around 2 on thanks giving but it just rang. I didn't want to bother u tho bro. I went to TTP on friday and me and ruben couldn't figure it out... so you think if it tap into my intercooler piping it would give me a better source then the BOV line? I know the boost controller came with a gold nipple to tap into with but I don't know where I put it.... maybe I can try that... but right now I am just running wastegate pressure

Tig welding is a much cleaner weld. It will allow for a rolled weld to be made(look like a roll of dimes). Plus there is less of a chance for leaks since there is no metal explosions during the welding process.

I was in walmart at that time. I may of lost reception. Had to get a propane tank.

OK back to your car.

There is already a nipple on the black pipe of the turbo that leads to the lower pipe. HKS BOVs are known to have prolbems if they don't have their own vacuum supply. So give the BOV its own vacuum back. Then run a hose from the nipple on the black pipe to the bottom nipple on the Hallman(make sure the light spring is in). The run one from the side nipple to the wastegate.

Make sure you check for boost leaks. The leaks can cause you to over boost also, due to lack of pressure to open the wga. One of the best places to check is on the egr, under the throttle body. I have blown those hoses off about 10 times. Those hose are thin. The heat from the motor weakens them, the ends warp and come loose. Plus, those hoses are not large so you will not hear anything until the system is pressurized over 20 psi. Just to make sure you check it really good. Get a bottle of soapie water and spray everywhere there is a hose or a coupling. If you see bubbles you have a leak. If you need a hand let me know. I have a compressor at my apartment. So I can help if you need.
