questions about an eclipse
i am simply helping him out he would not want to waist his time and money on a 1.8l 1g when a 1.8l honda b18 makes nearly twice the power for the same price.
if u like supporting this crap then start a website www.tamparicer.com
suck my bawwlls.

+1
the money wasted on that n/a crap could be well spent with a nice original turbo setup.

true, but hes not looking for alot of power the reason for the n/a 2.0.although turbo would be better and they would both cost about the same.

thanx guys for the help i think im gonna look for a 2.0 like you said so then i would have more options i guess and maybe a lil more fun but no not looking for a lot of powere just a little more than the 1.8 has stock, wasnt sure if it was worth turboing the 1.8 or not but thanx....if anyone has a good set of aftermarket wheels that are good on an eclipse let me know am also looking for that to...thanx
i knew a guy who bought a 1.8 laser for his wife/girlfriend. he did all the freemods, put an exhaust, intake, and header on it, spark plug wires, and he said it ran pretty well, and he definitely felt a big difference.
i PERSONALLY would not keep the 1.8, unless you are just looking to have a car to go back and forth to work in. you could do some things like the guy i just mentioned did, and id assume it would be "descent".
or you could do what some other people have mentioned, and get a swap. i wouldnt waste time with a 7-bolt, unless you have a tight budget. if you just want a little more power than the 1.8 can provide, you could get a 4g63 2.0l N/A, or a 420a 2.4 N/A. If you want some serious power, you could get a 7-bolt 4g63 Turbo. everybody and their grandma has a 7-bolt. Or you could get a 6-bolt 4g63. You could find one for $300-$500, and it has the least amount of problems, and great power potential.
last, you could always just get rid of it and find a gst somewhere. you could probably sell the 1.8 for $1500 or so, and grab a nice 1g turbo for around $3,500.

it is a manual tranny, my bad i forgot to mention that. i am running into a problem with the car actually, the car harness for the oxygen sensor is a 2 wire but advance auto part, nape and autozone say they can only get a 1 wire sensor for that car, have no clue where to begin looking for a 2 wire which the car requires, any help with that also would be appreciated
ok mabee i got out of hand.
if u want a slight gain without breaking the bank and staying original u might try buying the 4g63 head it will bold onto the 4g15 block without any problembs, my only consern would be timing so u may want to get the crank pully off the 2.0 aswell just in case. adding an exhaust prolly wouldent be worth the money in this application unless you wer spraying or boosting the car.
put an intake on it, stock throttle body is accualy fairly large 2mm larger then a stock 4g63t motor so it should be fine.
stock 1.8l makes 87hp i belive and the dohc 1.8l that comes stock in some hyundias made aprox 114hp thats a 27hp gane from a head, that shouldent cost u more then 200 bucks even after a timing belt the gear and some parts cleaner. this will prolly make a considerable amount more then a stock n/a 2.0 because the 1.8l uses the same block with a slightly smaller bore and a lower dech hight witch will give it higher compression.
from here if u want more power witch u prolly will u should try to find a 2.0l turbo block.
