Eclipse Wont Start! help plz
I have a 97 Eclipse gs. I replaced the starter a few weeks ago and it recently went out again a few days ago (the selinoid was faulty, happens with rebuilds). Now I put a new starter in and the car still wont start, I know the starter is good I had the store check it. I've made sure there is power running to the starter and its grounded, checked all fuses, battery is fine, and I'm not getting a "check engine" light. The engine isnt even trying to turn over. Any advice guys? I'm at a loss on this one.
If you look on your firewall on the drivers side. There's two solenoid looking squares with plugs that go into them. Tap those while starting the car. You can also unplug them and plug them back in. Sometimes it's that causing the no-start issue. I would try that.
I was told long time ago its usually the cause of a no start. They should be right above your brake resevoir or close to it.
If that doesn't work, check for spark. Check your plug wires and coil pack... make sure they are plugged in real good.
Also, when you turn the key do your hear the fuel pump priming or no?

Go to 2GNT.com and ask the same original questions you asked in the beginning of this thread. Those guys there should be able to help you since they have the same 420a based cars as you. You could also find information there by just searching "won't start" or phrases towards that aspect.
Something is either disconnected or loose. Especially if you say the battery is fine and the starter is grounded correctly and has power. The starter should turn when you turn the key unless you have a short somewhere. Check all your connections again. It still could be a bad ground. Is the starter making any noise when you try to start the car?
Your starter isn't even engaging, thus the car not even cranking. If either of the relays on the firewall (ASD and fuel pump) weren't working, the car would crank and crank but not start. I bet if you jumped the battery power terminals and ground on the starter, it would fire right up. If that's the case, then you simply need to track down the open in your starter circuit. Are you sure all of the fuses and fusible links are good? Did you simply look at them, or did you verify their condition with a multimeter?
EDIT: If you have a dmm, then it's very easy to figure this out. First thing I would do is check if you have 12v at the starter power wire from the battery. Verify the ground is secure as well as the signal connection that might have popped off or loose.
