this is just like the dealerships that said crankwalk wasnt covered under warranty, or that the thrust bearing couldnt POSSIBLY fail

see, in the nissan world, if you have a question about parts and you can't find the answer, the dealership is 98.9% right.
I kinda thought that all dealerships would have been that way.... i'm learning otherwise... i just got off the phone with a ford dealership, trying to find out some info on the taurus fans, and all they could do was sit there trying to convience me that what I was talking about couldn't work, and it was a bad idea and blah blah blah.... meanwhile, i overheard in the background the other guy telling the guy on the phone that they didn't even have the information i was looking for... I just wanted the physical dimensions... guess i'm gonna have to go to the junkyard and find out and measure it myself....

well dealerships for the most part only know what the exact specs are for an exact vehicle. for example, they KNOW that gs rotors will fit on a gs with gs calipers. they KNOW that gsx rotors will fit on a gsx etc... they are not officially trained or taught by the dealership as to whether or not a gsx rotor would fit on a gs. they don't officially know about swaps like that, because when some john doe comes in with a gs and he wants a brake job, they put on the normal brakes and parts for that car.

one place that would know specs like that would be an autoparts place, like auto zone or discount. ive had numerous times where they mentioned that the part numbers are the same even though its for a different make, yada yada.

good luck with these brakes though. the gsx (big) brakes on a gs or gst is not an uncommon swap, so you should be able to find information on it somewhere.

edit: here i found this Big Brake Swap Today, went Good! - Automotive Forums .com Car Chat

this guy did the swap, he used 95 gsx brake parts, and said they were a direct bolt on.

Do you guys think that the difference in size of rear rotors between GS-T and GSX might vary with the year of the vehicle? Maybe the rear rotors on a 2Ga GSX are bigger than the rear rotors of a 2Ga GS-T, and for the 2Gb, mitsu decided to use the same size rear rotors to save a little money? Just a thought, im pretty curious as to how Dane found the GSX rear rotors to be 1" bigger than the GS-T rear rotors, and other people are saying they are the same size?

Well you said they were half an inch bigger on each side, whick would equal 1 inch bigger total diameter.

unless you are talking about another variation, you must be measuring from the center. in which case, you are correct, it is a 1/2 longer radius...
we were all talking in diameter, which would be an inch bigger...

I'm thinking that this is the case.
When I was talking to the dealerships, I was talking about 96 gs and 96 gsx and they said that they were the same.
Some of the other DSMers I've talked to have reffered to the GSX brake swap as the "big gsx brake swap" implying there is a "small" brake swap
I'm thinking that when they changed the body in 97, they might have changed the brakes too... or something along those lines...

sooner or later, we'll get a definate answer...

Correct, you can use the fronts from a 3KGT base or SL model. The VR4's however, do not fit.
