adjusting tps problems
ok, this isnt really a problem i dont think, i just want to know what any of you might think about this "observation" ive noticed.
i went out and bought a new tps. that was what my check engine light was, so i figured it would be good to fix it. hopefully it will take care of my idle.
i hooked the brand new one up to an ohmmeter to see what the reading would be, and i noticed that the reading stops at 4.8 ohms, but the spin thing in the tps still turns a little bit. to illustrate, ive created a gif that shows what i mean...

near the end of the spin, the meter stops at 4.8 but the tps can still spin a bit, about 1/4" more spin. is this fine and normal, or is this tps bad? this is the brand new one im talking about here.

ok, i put the new tps on saturday afternoon. i also adjusted it to the specs from vfaq, and got it on perfectly. i put it on, and the car ran and idled nicely. then after a while of driving, the problem came back again. SHITTY idling. i never cleared the code, so i dunno if its still on now or not, but i bet it is, because the car runs and feels like it did with the old sensor on. today i drove home from work, and it was acting like it was about to stall out, so i had to keep my foot on the gas, like always. what could be the problem now?! i do have an exhaust manifold leak (stud broke) but i doubt that is the reason it would idle badly. that would affect acceleration and spool-up correct?
say that crankwalk was going to be a problem on this car.. is it possible that the crank could have messed up the crank angle sensor, causing the car to idle bad? in that case, could the guy i bought it from have done something to preserve the life of the car a little longer, so that he could sell it, but left the crank angle sensor bad? and if that happened, would it throw a code?
also, why the hell is it intermittent?!! it runs like crap whether its warmed up, or just started, whether its cold outside or warm, raining, tornado, whatever, and then sometimes it runs fine in the same conditions. any ideas?

one other thing, i was thinking maybe there is a short in the tps wiring, and that could be the reason it throws a code, even if the tps is worknig fine. how could i check the wiring?
this is what the idle looks like
