knock sensor
can lifter tick really cause a knock sensor to change timing? if the timing IS being changed, would that cause a bad idle? is there any way to see or monitor what the knock amount is, and is there any way to disable it to see if it makes any difference?
im taking a lot of stabs in the dark here to see what could cause a bad idle.

i have had 13 degrees of timing pulled because of lifter tick. i have my settings for knock readings set to read above 2600rpms though. i think at idle, the rpms would be so low that the lifter tick would make it read a low knock count since its a very slow tick at idle. i doubt thats the problem.

so you are saying that because its a slow lifter tick, it wouldnt read enough knock to drastically retard timing or anything, at an idle? you know that makes sense, the car (usually) accelerates ok even when it is idling bad, so thats probably not timing. good point. the hell is the problem then
