Running then shutting off, running then shutting off...
Ok its a bit long but please read it you may be able to help me. I described this as best I could...
My car has been down since last weekend. Put it all together today. Started the car, idling high (can't tell how high its idling my tach isn't working and no matter how many 90 tachs, coil packs, etc. I swapped still doesn't work). Car seemed fine... vaccumm was at 20 (which I read somewhere on a dsm forum thats where it should be at idle).
I left to load the datalogging software on the Palm. Came back to start the car, car starts then dies, starts then dies, finally its starts to run then its acting like it wants to shut off. Then it starts to idle high. I ground the test port, adjusted the BISS, got it to where it sounds like its stock idle. Car is running, fan kicks on, car is still running fine. Go for a test drive a few blocks, boosting at 10psi, car felt fine. Pulled into the driveway, car felt fine no problems... let it idle for a few minutes. Shut off the car.
Moved my other car (2g). Try starting the 1g, and it wouldn't start. Try again, starts then immediately shuts off. Did this a few times, till it finally started and was acting like it wanted to shut off. Again I ground the test port, adjusted BISS, moved the CAS a bit towards the radiator. Drove the car, stopped at lights... idling fine, get home... car is idling fine. Go inside, eat dinner. Come back outside and the car will not start, then finally starts and immediately shuts off. This time I had my girlfriend come outside, start the car and hold the gas. While I grounded the test port and adjusted a BISS, turned the BISS a 1/4 turn. Told her to let go off the gas... the car was idling low but stayed running. Turned the BISS a little more and it idling better.
Turned the car off. Went inside came back out about 15 minutes. Try starting the car. Car started but acted like it wanted to shut off, then it finally shut off by itself.
I don't know what it is, my CEL is off. All plugs are connected. I double/triple checked everything. Everythime its acting up my dome light dimes on and off. Could this be a sign of my alternator is pretty much gone? I just replaced my old one with this used one a week and a half ago.
I can't log anything because I'm not getting any good readings, seems the cable isn't connecting well with the Palm.
