cleaning headlights
the headlights on my car are foggy. not condensation foggy, but dirty or sun fog, or whatever foggy. its not noticably bad but when i turn the lights on, the reflection is grossly apparent in the fogginess. ive heard a few different opinions on how to clean them.
1. brake fluid
2. buff
does anybody have any experience with either, and does it work very well? also, is it possible to do something with the headlights so that they dont fog up again?

buffing is great but your best option was stated earlier, Wet sand and buff.
Just let someone who knows what they are doing do it for you. You could really fuck something up if you try it yourself.

i just tried using toothpaste, and i really rubbed it on, but it didnt work, headlights look the same as before. they do however have a pleasant mint smell. should i have used the gritty toothpaste? i know some toothpaste has more texture than others, and the toothpaste i used was pretty smooth.
i guess ill try that aluminum polish. anybody ever try brake or trans fluid?
one thing i was wondering, these headlights are the aftermarket ones with the projectors. are these known for fogging up and can they be cleaned up nicely? also, is it possible to undo the clamps and take just the plastic see-through part off?
i want to try everything i can before having to take the headlights out. they are ziptyed down on the bottomside and id have to take the whole bumper off. unless they could be easily buffed while still on the car?

Mother's Metal Polish FTW. Use a good soft applicator pad, rub the compound on the headlights very well (need to use a little elbow grease), let it haze for a moment, then wipe them clean.

Do not use brake fluid, your lights will only LOOK clear, and you can drill holes beneath the lights so if you have humidity, it can get out
