My old 95 lights were wetsanded and buffed. I sold them for $95 when I went to 2gb lights.

well i just used that nu finish scratch doctor stuff, no luck. looks about the same. i only used a handheld applcator pad. i dont have a buffer, but i have a drill with the attachments. im going to try that tomorrow, hopefully its not raining. i hear that it takes a long time do, like maybe 30mins per headlight.

I have actually wetsanded and cleared headlights before. That will last you the longest and look the best but you have to be careful about scratching them. Whenever i buffed my headlights about 2 or 3 weeks later i would have to do it again.

before i got this car, i only had 1g's before with popup headlights and didnt have to worry about them, and so before my 98, i had never heard about wetsanding before. is it a special kind of sandpaper? where can you get it? im pretty sure i could do it without messing anything up, if someone explained how it worked.

You have project headlights right? Some of those I've seen get aweful. I would talk to chiiillll and see what he did. One of his was really bad. I think the only thing that will work is wetsanding.

you are right it doesn't require a medical degree to be able to wetsand however you still might want to let someone experienced do it. I have 4+ years of professional detailing experience and I wont wet sand my headlights.
Wet sanding a cars paint job is easy because you can clearly see how much you are sanding off. it is more difficult to see on a clear piece of plastic. you might take more off one side than the other and have high and low spots.

to wetsand all you need is to find some 1500 grit sand paper and some soap and water. But if you don't have a high speed buffer don't even think about it.

There's nothing wrong with wet sanding and buffing. You can go to wal mart, get a 3 pack sheet of 2000 grit sand paper (the color of the sandpaper is gray not brown like most), wet sand your headlights really good, but stay away from your paint, let it air dry then rub the nu finish all over. When that's done drying attach the polish wheel to a drill and buff it out, you'll be surprised. You can use that shit on your whole car.
