Default Timing adjustment

How do you adjust the ignition timing? Took the car to a friends house last night and found out its about 5 degrees off, but he doesnt know how to adjust it, he mostly works with supras. Thanks for any help guys.

just the base timing? hmm you dont have a cam angle sensor do you?

You can not adjust the base ignition timing on a 2g.

so what can he do? he cant bolt a cam angle sensor to it can he?

Make sure it is being timed correctly for starters.

oh i figured he woulda done that... are you talking about grounding out the diagnostics port or whatever?

i guess we did, unless theres some special way to check timing on a DSM? We hooked up the timing light to the #1 cylinder and to the positive terminal of the battery, and marked the crank pully at the timing mark. I forget where it registered at, but he said its 5 degrees off.
