Default another thing broken

nothing major I think...

while driving on the local interstate.. 60-65 I realize my a/c is no longer cold, which really sucks because it worked great.. I turned it up and down just out of curiousity and while on the highest level it blew cold for a little bit.. at a stop light I saw white smoke coming up from under the hood.. so I freaked out and immediately pulled over.. came out to be a white smoke with a distinct odor coming from behind the intake manifold.. and there is some residue on my strut tower brace and around that region that is fresh.. only does this when the a/c is on

could this be a coincidence ? or is it related.. I really hope its related.. fixing a/c is alot simpler then who knows what it could be

A/C leak maybe? Maybe a broken A/C line. Could be why you smell the odor and see white smoke.

I know for sure its white. Don't try it... if you do your at your own risk... but I saw my dad try this... he took a screw driver, removed the ac cap to where you recharge and check the system, he pushed down on the valve and a line of white smoke came out. I'm not sure of what it smells like its been a while.

You probably have a small leak as soon as you get into higher mph it puts more pressure on the A/C compressor probably causing it to be a major leak.

Best advice I could give you is find an expert on A/C systems. I'm pretty sure some places have coupons for free A/C check and inspection.

Yeah its hot lol. I haven't had A/C in awhile. This car though has A/C and I forgot to use it lol. I still lower the windows down, open the sunroof and ride around sweating lol.

Seriously though just find one of those specials that they check your A/C and inspect if for free. They'll tell you what it is and then you have a peace of mind and get it fixed when you can.

It smells sweet, like antifreez but slightly different. I'd get that looked at because if it only happens when the ac is on, it might not be just a leak in the line it might be your compressor. Seems it only leakes when pressurized

Take the ac belt off and see if it still smokes while driving if the smoke stops than its not the comp.If it still smokes open the door and jump out. You probley than have a fatass leak in the area you see that residue . Good luck could be worse like a short in your ac system.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????

Man not trying to be a dick, but he does not have to take any belts off. You do not have to take your ac belt off. The compressor spins freely until engaged. When turned on the comressor clutch will come out and start to pressurize the system. Then and only then will you see what your dealing with reaccure.

Best thing to do is turn the ac on while the car is still and have someone bring the rpms up to where about the problem starts while looking under the hood for the leak. If not see an ac certified shop and have them put dye in the system!
