Default Thinking of buying an eclipse.....

Alright, I have been thinking of buying a 1995-1999 eclipse. I havent really thought of what model I want to get but perferrably not a turbo right now and def a manual. What I have heard from a couple of people that know what they are talking about said that I shouldnt get an eclipse due to all the problems they have. I am coming to you guys who own eclipses and who have experience with them, I want to know what problems, if any, you guys have experienced with eclipses. I know this might be a little bias since this is a mitsubishi section so everyone will say how great they are but I am just trying to get the truth out. Its going to take alot of problems to make me change my mind about getting one but I just want to know what problems you guys have had.

PS- When I mean problems, I dont mean problems that were caused by user error or because someone didnt put an aftermarket part on right or anything like that. I mean actual problems that werent the users fault.

I love the eclipse body style, nothing will change that, but I got mine back in Dec 05 and the door handles broke and the windows rattle like a bitch. I fixed the door handles with stonger ones, and the windows, I just deal with that shit which sucks, but I still love the car, it's a 96 RS 5-speed.

trust me u will want a turbo one, ether a gst or a gsx. i like my 98 gsx alot, but if u get a gsx or gst try and search for a 99 cause u can get a rare one wiht black interior. but i love the body style. so big probs with 2g's(95-99) is that there block crankwalks, witch u then need a whole new block, umm the trannys suck once u get more power, even with no power, ummm nothing else really big i can think of, but a great car to get if u want alot of power and for low money.just my 2 cents

The way i see it, most problems that occur with these cars have to do with the owner and the fact that the cars you are looking for are 7-10 years old.

I love the body style. Looking at other cars in the same age and price range, there's just no others that I like the looks of as much.

Since you're looking at the 420a non-turbo you shouldn't see as many problems. Just find one with low miles and enjoy!

I had a '97 GST and loved it. It had its fair share of common problems, but nothing too major even happened.

Well I dont really want a turbo right now because I want to be able to work on my own car and build up on it. I want to be able to get things like an exhaust, headers, cold air intake and turbo which I want to get myself if that makes any sense. I just want to be able to build up my car myself. Plus I heard turbos have alot of problems with the seals leaking and what not.
