ok guys it looks like everybody and there momma is gettin a 240 so i had to switch it up im going to get a 1990-1992 eagle talon awd tsi but i want to no the goods and the bads and i have a little tech ? ikno that when u brake the diff case tthat ur car would then end up fwd so is there anyway i can do that and make it rwd thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

 

viscus coupler I think. pm lancerman he would be able to help. you might need to build your tranny just for that and he is the man for all your dsm tranny needs.

 

It will hate life running RWD. Nothing in the drivetrain is built for that. It's basically a FWD car with power split off to the rear, not the other way around.

As for your motivation for getting a DSM- do what you like. It doesn't matter what other people do. If you like 240s, get a 240. If you want a RWD turbo 4 cylinder car, buy a rwd 4 cylinder car and turbo it or swap a turbo engine into it. Don't try to make a DSM something it's not.

 

Why a 90-92? Those are kind of odd years to pick, most either look for 90-91 or 92-94. An early 92 would be the best if you like the non flip up headlights. The early 92's have the 6 bolt engine and the 4 bolt rear end. Mid 92 was when they changed the motors.

Now off to the RWD hottness. From what I've read the stock rear wont hold up well in a RWD configuration under stock power levels. Your best bet is to get a 240 if thats what you want. Just cuz everyone else has one doesnt mean you have to be different. Who cares if everyone has a 240, get what you like A DSM is not a car for you IMO. Then again you build a nasty AWD and it will act like a RWD car

Actually it will be no wheel drive cuz the center diff will say fuck yo couch and put power to the rear cuz it will think the tires are spinning.

 

everyone has a point but if what you want is a headache and to be diffrent i know that it has been done before what you have to do is turn the engine sideways and slap a starion tranny in it. ive heard its a lot of work though. why dont you like awd? lauching and awd car is an extraordinary feeling and you will never want anything else.

 

I would have to agree 1000% I guess he's never been in an AWD car before.
