Default eliminating water lines to turbo

anyone have any thoughts on this or is it a waste of my time. i am hopefully finishing the build on the car this weekend and was wondering if i should just add this to the list since i am going to be swapping turbos till i finish the work on my hrc20g. lmk your thoughts.

thanks in advance,

David

last time my car and i had a conversation it told me that when it grows up it wants to be like the Goodwill project race car.

car looks bad ass joe, it has come a long way since i saw you and mike putting the new door panels on it at mikes. keep up the good work.

Not all turbos are meant to run without water lines.

Yeah, if you want your turbo to last and it needs water, then run the lines. It won't last long w/out it.

There is always a reason why something is made the way it is, I wouldn't mess with it...it's not worth having to either rebuild or buy a new turbo

You only need water lines if you are running a BB turbo. Otherwise pull the water lines off and just use a turbo timer. You do NOT have to have water lines unless you are running a ball-bearing turbo. It will NOT have any effects on the life of the turbo or performance, HOWEVER the use of a turbo timer will.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. The T25 is a conventional bearing turbo, and Mitsubishi engineers did not run water lines to the turbo for fun. Turbo manufacturers don't include coolant inlets and outlets in turbo center sections for fun either. In my opinion, they are there to be used. There is a thread on DSMTuners in which one of the moderators removed the water lines from his T25, and grenaded the turbo a couple of weeks later because of it.

This isn't to say that you can't run low boost without water lines without blowing your turbo, but if you plan on boosting hard and often, like most DSMers do, you should have water running through the turbo to pull unnecessary heat away from it. Just like turbo timers let oil run out of the turbo and cool down without baking in the bearing journals, water lines generally cool the center section and maintain an operating temp that will lengthen the life of your turbo.

In the end, coolant lines aren't that much of a hassle. You hook them up, and then they just sit there. Mine will remain intact

I know you did not post quoting dsmtards.

I ran my 14b for quite a while with no water lines and no problems. I know people running 14b's, 20g's, evo316g's, 61mm+ sized turbo's all with no oil lines. I guess they are all wrong also and their cars are just ticketing time bombs?

You are right, they don't include the water lines for fun. They include them for retards who don't know how to use turbo cars the right way and know that you have to let them cool down.

I'll ask you this, if the whole point of a turbo is using hot gas to spin a turbine cause hot gas moves faster, why would you want to cool things down?

Maybe I don't know anything or maybe you should stop looking at tuners for "information".

*edit* Please prove your statement in some way and not by quoting t00ners.
