Default US-spec / JDM cyclone

I need to know if:

1. how different are 7 bolt transmissons are than 6 bolt
(will a 7 bolt tranny be useable on a JDM 6 bolt?)

2. a 2G harness is different from a JDM harness how?
(will a 2G harness work on a 6 bolt JDM cyclone motor)

3. Don't JDM 6 bolts come with 16G turbos?

4. ECU? will a 6 bolt US-spec ECU work on a 6 bolt JDM 6 bolt?

isthere is anyone on here that can shoot me a PM and give me the info I am looking for...

Im pretty sure all 4g63 trannys are compatible. You will need a 93-94 cas and other shit required for the swap. Evo3 6 bolts have 16g's. Ecus will work with all 6 bolts.

as far as the turbo motors your thinking about all trannys will bolt to all motors.

2G was an American car, so since it was never made overseas then yeah.

Only certain ones did, not all. Galant VR4 RS ones I believe were the only ones, unless you got an Evo 1-3 cut.

Which harness are you using? Which ECU? Galant cuts will have ECUs that will work in 1Gs. still depends on year with the tach setup.


I woulden't waste your money on a "JDM" motor/tranny. There is nothing different about them, and by the time you get it. you can have a fresh motor built how you want it for cheaper. The whole "JDM" thing is very gimmicy, and since the Eclipse was never made anywhere else but America.... there isnt anything JDM about it.

Well my problem is, my AWD has no motor... ,no ECU.. I have tranny, transfercase,and the only motors I can find with low miles is JDM, and everything on them is ebay JDM cyclone motors, you know that DSM guys want top dollar for their crap (the market will only yield some much) in other words the motor isnt worth half as much as they are asking. I need a full motor with everything on it...

do a 6 bolt swap, find a Complete 1G NA motor for like $300-400 from a yard and rebuilt it to your liking. its new, cheaper, better, and youll have a buncha 1G parts left to sell.

I have a set of 3 cryo treated turbo pistons... Do you think I could find a 6 bolt 1G motor and drop in the 6 bolt cryo turbo pistons, and call it a day? find a turbo ECU, fuck the mounts, I have damn near a full shop to build what ever the hell I want... what is with the starter plate? i can get 1000 of those...its a plate that has like 20 holes drilled into it to allow it to mount to 15 different cars right?... I am only really worried about the harness... I have connectors from a 1G harness, so I have a leg up there. But still, I would need to buy, manifold, turbo, blah...blah...blah... it may be faster. easier, to go with the JDM motor... unless you guys have a donor car I could buy from you.

Your overcomplicating this whole thing. DSMs are very simple cars. get a 1G NA motor, rebuild with turbo pistons.... this will cost like $200 (pistons, bearings, hone) and install in car. What car is this going in? your talking 2G by the earlier stuff, but also talking non turbo to turbo setups from car to car.

what car is this going into.
