Sounds to me like a bad leak somewhere. How did you go about checking for leaks? Maybe a fuel injector seal?

inspected all vacuum lines and gaskets, and then sprayed carb cleaner over all of them

Well, that normally isn't good enough honestly. Make or get a boost leak tester where you can actually put some pressure into the system and find leaks. I would put any amount of money you'll find one somewhere.

I know I sound like a broken record in a lot of these help threads but I know first hand how easy it is to spring a boost leak and how much of a pain in the ass they are. Maybe I've had unusually bad luck with breaking a couple seams in a quality FMIC, ripping high dollar silicone couplers, busting fuel injector seals, but I doubt that I'm the only one.

my buddy has a boost leak tester. i will try that. another problem now, i think my power steering pump is out. got the car to run (barely) today and had no power steering. there was plenty of fluid and the belt was good. most likely the pump went out

alright, got the problem fixed. it ended up being the ground for the coil pack, the wire had started coming apart, which = bad misfire. i appreciate everyone's help on this.

and to answer your question rich, i still shoot once in awhile at peabody's. any time you want to shoot, give me a call. 813-843-0669.
