Default Eclipse Died

My mom was driving home from work today, and the car died in the middle of the road while she was at a light. Then it wouldnt start. Wait a while, then try and start and it started but then dies when you put in drive or reverse. So then I put it in Nuetral and turned it on, gave some gas holding RPMS up and dropped it in Drive to get it off the road, got it off the road, and then it died. I think it is the alternator, but I want more opinions. I am taking the alt. off tomorrow and taking it to AutoZone so they can test it. Let me know what you all think. Thanks for the help.

no way dude. who ever said the alternator needs to come off to test is a moron. it can be tested right where it is, bolted up still attached to the car. i have a gsx, but i dont see why it would be any different.

edit: didnt realize you couldnt get the car to them, nevermind. call AAA have it towed?

well is any of the dash lights coming on when its running .typically when a alternator goes bad the dash lights will come on telling you the charging system is not working. so i dont think it is that. have the battery tested first. with a dead battery the car will dye. check that out first.
