Default Woo HOo... just picked up a 92 TSi AWD w/ 34k miles

well, i just got it delivered today. need to sort out the whole not-starting thing. but it sounds like its got good compression and wants to start, so thats a plus. just needs a new front driver fender, a re-spray, non-rusted rotors and pads and itll be Golden. btw, it was made in May of 1992... you know what that means right?

only down side is that it has ABS and its an AT... ill be the 3rd owner of this car. apparantly the 1st owner installed 450's, 14B, Starion front mount, Fields AFC and some cool 17" 5-star wheels. thats all i can see from first glance... i was planning on buy, fixin it and putting it up for sale. but i doubt ill get the right price for a car like this in Literally-Mint condition once its completed.

I dont think its the Fabled/Perfect 1G cuz i dont think its got the big brakes...but its got everything else.

Given that it has a few undesireables (AT, ABS), what have people paid for Like-new condition AWD's?

Hate to say it but you probably won't get alot for it since it is an auto. That means if someone buys to part out you can't(well you can but thats a whole other topic) use the auto 4bolt rear on any manual dsm so it's not worth it.

I'd say 2g's? Ask how much tripleG got his car cause his old car sounds like the one you just discribed.

yea, i know that the AWD driveline is worthless to anyone w/ a 5sp. guess itll be worth more to just keep it and drive it. the only thing my car has on Tom's is the mileage... thats about it. thats probably only worth a $500 credit

Eh there really isn't that much of a difference with a car that has 90k and a car that has 120-130k on it. Thanks to the strong well built 4g63. IMO

I bought mine in 2000 with 33,431mi And I am the second owner. its a 6/4 5 speed. the only down fall was the abs. and the fact that it was a cali. car. But good find.

I loved my 91 TSI automatic. It was a great daily driver and fun to drive. It tool me next to no mods to get a 13.8 out of it also. You just cant out shift a automatic.

Update... i just fixed it... i did what a freakin Chrysler MAster SAE tech couldnt do...

the Fields SFC harness was still plugged in without the SFC controller and the MPI relay was missing. removed the jumper harness and borrwed the MPI relay from my GST... had it running in less than half an hour. It runs like ass with the 18month old gas and seemingly-collapsed lifter/s....but otherwise, im satisfied.

anyone got an MPI relay/controller i can buy?
