You need to change the plugs, it didn't misfire when we first ran it. All the cylinder lube fouled them out.

Shit, just realized I am on Eric's computer and SN...oh well.

Did you rebuild it? Hmm, what to do for break-in?

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Taboo posted a more in-depth version of the "WOT break-in" on DSMtalk, but I am too lazy to dig it up. The basic principle is to let the car start and idle for 20 minutes or so to get air out of lifters, check for oil and coolant leaks, etc., change the oil, then go out and do WOT 3rd gear runs up to near redline then let the engine wind down on its own, repeat a few times then drive back home, change the oil and drive it like you normally would. This only applies if you did a full rebuild, new rings, honed the cylinders, etc.

i changed the plugs the mis/backfire went away... still has smoke coming off the exhaust mani tho.. i ran it today for 30 min and then changed the oil to get out all the shit in the engine. drove it around my neiborhood... it was running hot on my temp gauge got close to the warning dash BEFORE the red and i shut the car off and found that biran and i forgot to plug in the radiator fan.. drove it for a few more minutes then parked it... its making a wierd wining noise like a belt is loose (prob the ps belt) or air is escaping some where and making the sound.. but in all its running good with the changed plugs i have 4 miles on it now i just need to get my logger back hook it up log it and break it in... oh Jordan Y thanks for the link... so basicilly i need to keep the engine at higher rpm w/o boosting it thats what im guessing anyone else have any input on the breakin process
