Default Short Shifter Question

I would like to know what you people know. Some people have told me that if you put on a short shifter it could potentially do something to break your transmition. All my friends that have them haven't had a problem. I just didn't want to take any risks because I need a daily driver.

Thanks

some people say itll kill synchro's faster...i say its a waste of money...only thing thats gunna make your shifts quicker is you...and more directly, your foot.

I would recommend getting the Symborski shift kit from MachV. Its about $35 and gives a much better feeling from the shifter. Eliminates some of the mushiness caused by the stock rubber bushings.

I already bought the shift kit and I really liked it. I was just wondering if I should get a short shifter. Since I am not making my car a race car, just making it quicker.

My shifter is cut and i havent noticed any ill effects. Either get one pre-made or have your stocker cut. Just dont go too crazy and cut it too short

Adding a short shifter for me was a requirement. The one that I p/u dropped the height by about 1.5". I could've chopped the OEM stick, but I wasn't comfortable with the idea. Plus the labor would've cost me just as much as the new shifter.

If you tighten the knob a few extra turns, that will shorten the throw a little bit and the shifter won't look near as high as before.
