Pocket logger, boost and egt are a good start. Dont need a A/F gauge the logger will show you that. I would later look into a wideband 02 for some serious tuning.

yes, wideband o2 is the way to go....so a search for a DIY-WB that you can build yourself if your inclined to do so, its about 250...or you can buy one thats called an LM1...just tap your exhaust piping before your cat, and it can plug right into the cigarette lighter... pocket logger will be good to monitor knock count, and tune for it aswell.

for less money than going and building/buying a wideband (im not saying its not usefull or anything) but call around and some places w/ a dyno, i think you might be a little bit surprised how much they might charge to tune... that would be the most accurate way... but its just a segestion...

id prefer a road tune, but dizin is right, most charge 75 for 3 pulls with o2 readings...i would honestly prefer to pay the 350 for the LM1, tune on the track where the car will be driven, and use it whenever i want, and possibly turn profit with it helping buddies out for maybe 15 bucks or so giving them o2 readings on their cars.

Wrong. A dyno is a controled inviroment. Beeing able to wideband tune on the street or track with a full load on the car and in the real weather is the only way to go.

I use an EGT gauge along with a datalogger. Most of my attention is focused on the EGT since that is the end result of whats happening in your car. If the temps get too high, i can go back and find out exactly what caused it and why by looking at timing, O2s and knock.

good luck getting correct o2's with a narrowband and a pocket logger... in my honest opinion, a wideband o2 will tell you much more than any EGT guage...yea, that 1 guage will tell you what that 1 cyl temp is.. but what happens if one of the other 3 have a failing injector? your only monitoring the one cylinder and wont see much temp if any increase unless your monitoring the cyl w/ the bad injectors...a wideband o2 in my opinion is the number 1 possibly most constructive tool/monitoring device, that should be equipped in any modified car. and when you think about it...alot of people tap the EGT into the driverside runner, #1? that is the coolest running cylinder if all are running the same...the air has a greater distance to travel to get to that very last runner, and in turn its getting a richer mixture in that cylinder because its getting less air then the others...but this is just my theory id monitor the cyl closest to the TB as it has 1st dibs on any air coming through but still your left with the fact your only monitoring 1 cyl.

Really the 02s are the last thing im looking at while using a logger. Timing and knock pretty much tell me what i need to know. Sure in a perfect world we would all have wideband 02 setups with all the other goodies and be able to tune equal to or better than possible on a dyno. But in the real world, where money, time and will-power is an issue, the logger/EGT setup does just fine for me. I think its more than adequate for my goals/mods.
