A few questions for my FC rebuild/redo...
I am rebuilding an 88 TurboII. I have been trying to hunt down a descent (original) swap to put into the car, but Ive had no luck just yet.
So basically I have an 87 NA 13b going into it. The engine has higher mileage, but its a full running swap that I took out of my 87 GXL.
While I have it out.. these are the things I am looking to change/eliminate/fix.
1. Oil squirters.. How "simple" of a task is this. I am aware that I will have to premix my fuel after, but
what are the pros/cons and pains about removing the setup.
2. What are the sensors/wires on the side of the trans.. I know that one has to be the shift light
sensor and the mechanical speedo is down there too, but im unsire of the 2 sets of wires that are
on both sides of the tranny.
3. Is it possible to run a periphial port style intake on an engine that has not had a port job. I have a
friend that can fab alot of things and I was wondering if this would be any benificial to "opening" up
an NA car.
Any help, insight or ideas are greatly appreciated..
Thanks.
Bryan

Cons: you have to spend extra time @ the pump filling up, & if you have an interior you care about, you'll get oil on it. Also oil on your hands most likely. There is now ZERO lubrication on decel, because it goes into fuel cut, and no fuel = no oil since it's all mixed in.
2) Speedo, neutral switch, 5th/reverse. Check FSM
3)what? no

Thanks for the info. Well as for the injectors, I will be leaving them for now. Im going to try and get a PDF of the trans so i can rewire everything the right way.
And well for number 3... it was just a thought. I really want to get a T2 swap in, but Ill just have to wait.

landon wouldnt there still be some amount of fuel on decel even after the fuel cut, otherwise wouldnt the engine just stall out with no fuel? I would think that if you had the clutch in on decel and the car was running at idle that there would be sufficient oil getting in there. Or are you talking about decel as in engine braking?

oh ok lol, i dont know really what fuel cut defencers can do but can you use them to maybe stop that issue or do they just work as far as WOT fuel cut type shit

I believe its just a WOT deal Matt.
As far as the dangers of no lube on decel due to fuel cut and premix... as long as you know that its occurring inside your engine you shouldnt have to much of a problem... Me personally.. i like to tap the throttle in between down shifting/engine breaking etc. I like the way my engines sound so i enjoy hearing them and i feel its easier on the engine itself to keep it on a more gradual pace than just cutting it off from WOT or "spirited driving". Its all driver preference tho. You really shouldnt have any issues with the decel/lube conflict tho, as long as your not being an idiot...
