Yes, a very under estimated car, and more fun than a little bit to drive. I have a few mods but the most fun is the coilovers. I love having a car that handles, not like my Mustang which acted more like a scared pig on ice when you put it in a turn. Which is why I set that up to go fast 1/4 mile at a time. My 6 will never do sub 12 sec 1/4's but if I wanted that I would have bought and built another Mustang. I am aiming for low 13's with the 6 tho, we shall see.

You talking about Mike Selicki(sp) or is he the one that does the cams? What kind of boltons do you have on the ZE? THere was a dude on Probetalk with a pretty much stock internaled KL03 LS and he ran consistant low 13's on the motor and I believe he got down into the 12's with a 75 shot. His name is "streetthismx6". Look his cars up on Probetalk.com you'll really love what that dude accomplished. Him and another dude named Dan Sac are the Second gen probe/mx6 gods! I bet if you put a 75 shot on your ze and got a good tune, you could easily see mid 12's on some good DRs with the n2o and I/H/E.

^ I think you mean Mike seli cams. there okay, Put Colt Cams have far better durations with there options plus they are really great with custom setups too! now only if I had Colt race cams in my mx-3

I had a 89 Mx-6 Gt car was a blast but it kept breaking crap and it was hard to find parts for..Plus my wife hated it dearly cause someone mistreated it and everything was rigged.


But it went to a good home sold it to a guy who owned like 4 of them.

High 12's are possible, just not to sure how far I want to take this motor, she has some miles on her. Thanks for the tip, I'll have to look those guys up on Probe Talk, I don't check there as often as I should. Once I get all this general maint. shit done I'll be looking to MS it and then maybe a 75 shot. But I'm really thinking about getting a DE motor from the u-pull-it for $100 and building a 12:1 motor with my ZE heads/intake and a cam upgrade. Thought about going turbo or supercharged but they always seem to have reliability issues. Besides I'm more of a N/A kinda guy anyway.

As for mods, I have the standard ones, and a couple not so standard ones.

^ theres NO way u will build a 12:1 comp KL. ZE heads/valves/pistions ect. will only net you 10:2:1 comp= stock ZE now with even full race NA colt cams well not change your comp. Even with 11:2:1 40over wiesco pistion/Millenia S combo + milled valves + shaved heads + Custom 1 off IM you are still looking in the 11:5:1 range. Only realy way to make power NA from a KL is Custom ITB's , MS, Custom cams to able to rev to 10,000+ rpm / valves , duel titanium retainers , Exturnal dry slump oil pump to compensate 10,000 rpm cause the stock pump quites at 8,500rpm. Also Custom full length headers and you might squeeze out 250 - 300whp....still good for a 11sec pass in a 323bg hatch though LOL.

Yeah, wiesco can be had in 11.5:1, but there was another company making 12 or 12.5:1's I'll have to search for that thread again on mx6.com. They may even have been for another make (Honda?) and modified for use in a KL motor, been awhile since I read it. But 11.5:1 would work too. I'm not trying to build the fastest MX6 ever, just one that'll make more power than a ZE is capable of.

The pistons could be correct, but in the thread I'm thinking of the guy used Pauter rods.

Got a problem with my six and have a question for ya MazdaMX3Freak, since you seem to have a lot of experience with these engines. I'm not getting any spark, the coil and HEI module are good and I have no CEL either. I replaced the HEI because it tested as bad, the coil tested ok, but still no spark. I don't want to spend a shit load of money changing stuff out, so any helpful advice would be appreciated.

I was driving in Tampa and the car just shut off, no warning, just died. Ended up having to have it towed back to Seminole $$. My list of possible things is the cps, cam sensor and ecu.

it is deffenitly not your ECU. It does sound like it could be your crank sensor due to the fact you have a running HEI.Also in most cases ive see when your cps goes it will not throw a code, go figure. To test to see is thats your problem or not, put your car in CEL MODE TEN & GRD jumper. Then see it it will start that way. If it does start then its cps also your fans will be running when you open throttle. Which I have a spare cps
