Know what you're getting into. Actually, let me clarify...
Know what you're getting into.

I learned a decent amount about rotaries before I even began the shopping process for an FD, by which point I had well decided I was swapping for an LSx. Get to know the common problems (and fixe$$$), and browse rx7club to see what the owners are REALLY saying about them. You ask what everyone thinks of the RX7 and the RX7 fanatics like to come out of the woodwork and tell you about their potential and their magical motor, but take a look at their forum and see how many guys are on motor 3 in their 80K mile car, or how many guys keep a dedicated $3K aside to rebuild the motor when (not if) it randomly decides to blow, or see how many people are complaining that their $$$ build still doesn't run right, or even better, I DARE you to count how many threads follow this template: "New FD Owner Here....NEED HELP!!!" Countless people want to walk into the sports car ring for $12K and their wallets are the only ones that get taken for a ride.

The downtime and headaches that come with FD ownership are the investment you make with the car, instead of paying double to triple the price for a similar condition Supra or NSX. It's like marrying the hot cheerleader. You've got the hottest chick in town, but how much bimbo idiocy are you willing to put up with for occasional sex?

the car has 98000 miles and is a 5 speed
Well i dont know if you are reading this or not but depends on how much power and what you do. If you want anything over 400ish you will have to go single. But i dded mine on 10psi stock twins and made 150 all day long and it ran fine. So it is all what you want. But personally i think that if you are just getting into it, stay as stock as you can get away with until you learn about it. And make it the first thing that you get is a rad. lol.
