Default Thinking about getting a RX8...

I have a Mazda 3 right now and I'm thinking about going to the RX8. Is there anyone that has made this move and liked the RX8 a lot better? I've heard things like the interior is small and the seats arent comfortable. I haven't test driven one yet, but I wanna know what the owners think of this car. I appreciate the feedback!

I love the car... The interior is very attractive and comfortable. The car handles like a dream but it is slightly underpowered but its probably a upgrade from the mazda 3.

I do keep hearing that it is underpowered, but I don't really need to be the fastest car on the road. I'd be going from 160hp to 238hp and that will be a big deal for me. I plan on test driving one soon. Thanks for the feedback!

Car handles great. You could go several ways if you needed to make it faster. Just remember the car is rear wheel drive. So just be really careful the first few times you drive in the rain. Make sure you get a good feel of it first before you start driving like crazy.

Like I said I couldn't be happier... The car is amazing at the track and there are local companies that make some stuff for the car. It works out for us in the best way. The underpower part comes from the comparison with the fd... To me there is enough power to have a lot of fun

the interior is very nice, comfortable and roomy. the back seats are nice as well, and even though it looks like the back is small from the outside, its actually spacious on the inside.

Make sure you do a carfax on the car prior to buying it, A lot of the first year cars had a cooling system leak, causing the motors to be changed. Go through the car very well, as you do not want to end up with a lemon. Other thing is, if you have never owned a rotary before, make sure you follow the scheduled maint. Rotaries use oil due to the oil injection system, if you skip an oil change or 2, you might be replacing a motor. They dont leak it, they burn it on purpose.

I recently got one, and all i have to say is "LOVE IT"! and as far as comfort, i owned a jaguar previously and well i like the rx8 seats better (front anyway, F**K the back, i bought it for ME) LOL.. but for sure be careful in the rain , it tends to get a lil loose at times.

I am not familiar with the coolant issue you speak of... I know that if you don't drive the car aggressively then you will start to have carbon build up and eventually having the motor replaced. Thankfully Mazda has increased the drive train warranty to 100,000 miles.
