Tranny Question!
Alright, lets see if yall can figure this out.
First off I have a manual 1990 RX7, Convertible.. which you all prolly anyway.
ANYWAY...
A problem started recently with her, sometimes when I put the car in Reverse the engine well just cut off.
BUT
I can start the car with it in Reverse and the clutch in then back up as needed, then if I put the car in Neutral she well cut off.
Any ideas?
Also the engine and tranny where both rebuilt about 55k ago.

same EXACT thing happened with my first FC. it was a 88 SE and automatic.
well after a few hours of trying to figure out why it was happening, i came across a 5speed gxl shell for $100. when i swapped the motor over to the gxl and the gxl tranny, i had no future problems. HOW? WHY? IDK!

did the clutch get replaced as well?
does it stall when you put into reverse with the clutch still in?
what EXACTLY was rebuilt on the trans? just new synchros or were the shift forks replaced too
I bent one those and shattered the first to second synchro gear once

Yes, the clutch was replaced.
Your seconds question, I think because Im tired and retarded, but, just like the car is running, in neutral, then i push in the clutch then shift into reverse and the engine just cuts out.

when it dies does it feel like the gears are engaging at all?
or is it more electronic, like maybe the reverse switch (turns on the reverse lights) is shorting out some circuit
actually have some watch to see what your reverse lights do when shifting into reverse and when starting in reverse with the clutch in - to see if there is a difference

To Niburu: It stall the second it is put into reverse, before i even think about letting the clutch out, so maybe the Reverse light switch is short curcuiting something.
It's more liable todo it when the car is warmed up also.
