should i get a FC?
hi, im new to rotary so dont know much. my friend is selling a FC. my only problem for them is that i heard you have alot of problems with with rotary
and costs alot of money to maintaine. also the FC is old already so dont i need to rebuild the engine soon? and the price for the FC is 3000.
He rebuilt the transmision and had break and clutch service. the exterior still looks nice. no dents or nothing. just need to be detailed. and is it a good idea to turbo the car?
thanks

here we go again...
first off welcome to the forum. if you would take some time to go through the stickied information at the top of mazda tech, you will be able to answer most of your questions through there. we are all here to help, but it would be 1000x easier if you read up some on the car.
now here are some questions for YOU.
-what year?(fc so 86-91)(86-88=s4,89-91=s5)
-what model? (se,gxl,gtu,gtus,vert,turbo 2)
-plans?(daily driver,drift,auto x, 1/4mile)
if you plan on doing ANY work to the engine, do yourself a favor and have it rebuilt by a professional. get yourself some good suspension, and learn how the car drives. a fresh rebuilt Fc with suspension is a blast to drive, and will teach you the physics of the car. there are alot of misconceptions about rotaries, if you take care of them they will last just as long as any other engine. good luck and please, read the stickies.

if it's non-turbo (NA) do not waste your time trying to turbo it
either find TII (which in good condition will cost twice as much as that NA)
or by the NA and learn how to drive a FC and trade up later when you have the money
As for maintenance costs they are no higher than any other 20 year old sports car

if i were you i would get it, especially since they are really rare cars and usually when i see one they are gone within a couple of days, but one thing yes they are really high maintenance cars because since they are rotary's they need to get rebuilt because of the constant overheating, oh yeah a friend was gonna get one, but then he said that the guy he was going to buy it from said that the motor itself needs to get rebuilt every 4500 miles which really blows and it costs around a good 4000 dollars to get it rebuilt, but hey if you really like the car i think you should get it considering the high maintenance it needs, for me i sure as hell would get one. Just make sure you really take of it thats all, its one fast car ive driven my dads friends 3rd gen rx7 and that car is fast. i hope some of the info helped you.
haha, you dont know shit about rotaries. i lol'd when you said rebuild every 4500 miles. GTFO
