86 shell rx 7 frankinstien help
just bought a 86 rx 7 shell with what im told is a early 90s 13b and a 5speed 4th gen trans(is this possible?)that lacks lots of power but runs smooth.......any help on markings on numbers to look for to see what i got to work with.......most electronics dont work....no check engine lite......maby needs light to run right........heard somwhere not to use fuel treatment and was told prevous owner had fuel injection treatment done to it....could this of hurt?.......new to rotary....ready to learn......
no 4th generation rx7 that i know of....
well stock n/a rotary motors are not too powerful. what electronics don't work? what needs a light to run right? the check engine light?
u need someone that knows they're way around rotaries a lil bit to give it a walk around in person....

with how vague the explanation of your problem(s) are, it's hard for me to help you.
calibrate the tps, check for vacuum leaks, change the rest of the plugs, then go with some new wires. then go from there.... maybe change the fuel filter......
is it flooding?

all i can say is that it doesnt idle.........the tps is my next idea so that makes me feel better.......all new vaccum hoses routed correctly.......wires are new other plugs are fairly new.....the last owner told me he did a tune up but apparently used all four blue stripe plugs....no flooding yet allthough i hear thats a fun road to deal with in the middle of nowhere.......thanx for the help.........
By 4th gen trans they probably meant Series 4 trans (86-88 ), sounds like you may have a series 5 motor (89-91)
take some pics and post them
this will help us greatly figure out what's up

these pictures are from my friends camraphone and they kinda suck but its all i got........the top of the engine says mazda 13b injection....the second from the right picture is of the passenger side rear of the engine it looks like something should be there and it also looks like a metal vaccum tube that no hose goes to......by the time i saw the tube it was past my neighbors kids bedtime so i couldent start the car and put my finger over it but i havent noticed hearing a vaccum leak.........no brapbrap till tommorow

you definetly have a series 4 motor, most likely the original 86 motor that came with the car, it might have been rebuilt
get a Haynes manual for it
and start checkin fuses, wiring, etc...
