Customizing an RX8
Sounds like a good suggestion to me, though she already said her dad won't go for it.
The power difference is HIGHLY noticeable - it's a 40 hp difference
and of course the sluggish nature on any slushbox tranny compared to a manual makes the car even slower.

Where are you pulling these numbers from ?

The RX-8 is available in various models in different markets around the world. Standard models include:
- 6-speed manual "High Power" with an output of between 170 kW (231 hp) and 177 kW (237 hp) and a 9,000 rpm red line. Japanese models produce 184 kW (250 PS).
- 5-speed manual "Standard Power" tuned to 141 kW (192 hp) with the red line reduced to 7,500 rpm.
- 4-speed automatic tuned to 141 kW (189 hp) in some markets, while the U.S. automatic is stated to deliver 197 SAE net hp (158 kW).
- 6-speed automatic (available in the U.S. market as of 2006) developing 212 hp (170 kW) with a red line at 7,500 rpm.

can you do simple arithmetic?
six speed manual is 237hp
four speed automatic is -197hp
-------
40hp
they are tuned according to their drivetrain. or can you not read either?

Thanks for all the suggestions. Sorry to get you guys in an uproar. But I am not allowed to get a manual and I'm fine with it. Honestly, I have a car to get me around (and a very nice car might I add). I'm NEVER going to race this car on the streets and I will NEVER drag this car. Everything I am doing is for looks and comfort. I have made decisions on what I do and don't like and I go from there. I'm glad you guys are here to help guide me and give me info that I wasn't aware of. Thanks guys! And sorry again for getting you all in an uproar.
Don't worry about it. We understand that everyone is not looking to get into the performance aspect of a vehicle and that some people just want to improve a vehicles ascetic characteristics. I didn't mention this before but tint your windows, it gives the car a sharper look as well as keeps it cool in parking lots.
I would get a nice set of coilovers. I invested in those about a year after I got my car and I wish it was the first thing I did. Awesome ride too. What color is your car?
