Default permanent fix for flooding

im tired of deflooding my 88SE everytime it floods. pulling the fuse out or flooring the gas pedal to burn off the gas while cranking the engine is very tedious.

im wondering why rotaries does this and what would be the permanent solution.

any help will be appreciated.

Low compression
Fouled plugs
or bad vac lines can cause flooding.

Installing a rtek could help you in this case because it has a flood control feature

try all of the "less" expensive things first. plugs and wires all that jazz. also i found that by replacing the actual wires from the battery help tremendously with holding the charge, and starting much faster.

It's not really the rotary that causes the flooding, it's the programming in the ecu. FCs are the only ones with the problem, and a worn out engine makes the flooding occur a LOT more often. Flooding usually happens when the car is moved a short distance and shut off, and a way to do so without flooding is to stall the motor in gear with your foot on the brake. When my car used to flood a lot, I put a switch on the fuel pump. Then I put in the microtech and it never floods. Plugs, wires, etc won't help the flooding problem unless you're car has a missfire problem.

all rotaries are prone to flooding when compared to piston engines
90% of thime I've flooded the car it's been my own fault, basically shutting it off when it was cold or it was overdue for some maintenance of some kind

gosh i dont even know the mielage anymore on the car... it stopped at 169,700 like 4 years ago so it should be around 200,000 miles. still original engine.

mods are intake, pace setter header, removed rats nest, removed ac, PS, and airpump. im not sure if you would call that mods.

thanks for the replies people. ill go ahead and change the spark plug wires as they are rusted. also my wires from the battery are giving me a problem sometimes.

ill go ahead and do a tune up and we will see. ill get back with you guys soon.

i had my car wired to where it doesn't shut off until all the extra gas is burned off. you turn off the key it keeps running for like 15 seconds and after that i had NO flooding issues. i didn't wire it, not my thing. but I'm sure theres a diagram somewhere on how to do it. I'll look into it for you.
